Welcome to my new blog. Be patient. It’s still under construction. With the exception of a rare Facebook note, historically, I’ve usually only blogged when my wonderful wife and I are off on an adventure. But as someone who writes for a living, I figured why not blog more often? Sometimes, it’ll be to express my utter disbelief toward the craziness of the world; most of the time, it’ll be to poke fun at it. You’ll probably get a heavy dose of dog stories/pictures, along with the occasional foodie post. And of course, the continuing adventures of Leslie and Ed on vacation. Hopefully, you’ll not only follow me, but engage me in discussion and share your ideas and thoughts.
As a self-described agnostic, I’m often critical of religion and what people do in the name of their religion. I’m not critical of someones faith, as long as their beliefs do not hurt others besides themselves. That being said, I do at least cling to an ideal of how things should be when we depart this life.
From the mind of Albert Brooks comes the genius of “Defending Your Life”. The thought of being judged for how you lived your life and the ability to come back until you get it right intrigues me. And as a result, I attempt to live my life as if this is what will occur. Granted, as you will come to find out, I tend to like animals FAR more than people. Nevertheless, I do believe in helping others when the opportunity arises. I also try to limit being an asshole. Sometimes I’m successful; sometimes, not so much. Will all the moments of my life, upon review, be honorable and not embarrassing? Hell no. But I think I have a pretty good life and when it’s my time, I look forward to being proud of the way I’ve lived.
If you’ve not seen this movie, run, don’t walk, to your Netflix queue and watch it. You won’t regret it. And then tell me, how many days will you be looking at?
